Happened dec 2022- I received an email saying I was charged 349.00 for mcafee spyware- I never even checked to see if I had been actually charged anything. But I called and they said they could refund 300 dollars only and had to put it back directly into my account. They told me to type 300 on this black screen and I typed it but the zeros kept moving and the 300 became 30000 and all of a sudden I had 30 extra thousand dollars in my account!
tgey accuses me of stealing it and I was so shocked and freaked out I believed them. I then spent the next 36 hours trying to pull the money out and return it to them only to finally realize they gad moved 30000 of our own money from one part of our savings to our checking so essentially I stole from myself and sent them 15000 bucks. I almost sent them 30000 but I realized something was off and confessed to my husband and bank before all was lost.
I lost 15000 dollars in total ??
